Organ Donation Registry Turned Down 24/02/2004 04:56 PM NewstalkZB The Government has rejected a recommendation to establish a national organ donation registry. There is currently a shortage of organs available for donation and Parliament's Health Committee suggested replacing the current driver licensing system with a national organ donor registry. Health Minister Annette King says the Government wants the committee to examine the effectiveness, cost and other details of such a register first. She says the Government has agreed to implement a number of other recommendations, including setting up a national organ donation agency.
