More help for organ donors

The man who has been campaigning for three years for help for live organ donors is relieved the hard work appears finally to be paying off.

The Health Minister will be taking a proposal to cabinet in the next few weeks suggesting some sort of income support for donors who need time off work to recover from surgery.

Compensation for live donors is just the sort of thing Andy Tookey says he has been campaigning for.

He says Grant Kereama's high profile donation of a kidney to Jonah Lomu has encouraged more donor volunteers to come forward, but people need to keep the momentum going.
