Reply
Hon Annette King (Minister of Health) replied:
"The National Transplant Donor Co-ordination Office is funded to provide education on organ donation for health professionals and to increase public awareness."
Dr Lynda Scott: "Are any changes proposed to the Human Tissue Act 1964 to improve organ donations; if so what are these changes?"
Annette King: " The Ministry of Health has begun a review of the Human Tissue Act 1964. This review will include consideration of the factors influencing the availability of organs and tissue with a view to developing policy options fo a future regulatory framework in this area. The Ministry is only in the early stages of the review, and I have yet to receive advice on policy options.
