Paul Hutchison MP has asked some more questions of the Minister of Health in response to her answers to the previous questions. Answers to these questions will be added as they become available.

6100 (2005). Dr Paul Hutchison to the Minister of Health (10 May 2005):
Does the Ministry of Health supply data to the Australian and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry on organ donation?

Hon Annette King (Minister of Health) Answer Text: The Ministry of Health contributes funding towards the
Australia and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry (ANZOD).  New Zealand  organ donor co-ordinators and transplant units provide data to ANZOD.

6191 (2005). Dr Paul Hutchison to the Minister of Health (11 May 2005):
Further to her reply to written question No 04479 (2005), why does she state that the information is not collected for kidney transplants, if Australian and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry annual reports indicate this information is collected?

Hon Annette King (Minister of Health) replied: Hon Annette King (Minister of Health) replied: ANZOD (Australia and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry) does not collect data regarding patients who have died on the kidney transplant waiting list.
While ANZDATA (Australia and New Zealand Dialysis Transplant Registry) collects data about people who have died while on renal dialysis, this information cannot be used as a proxy for people who have died on the transplant waiting list as only one-fifth of patients dialysing are on the transplant waiting list

6192 (2005). Dr Paul Hutchison to the Minister of Health (11 May 2005):
Further to her reply to written questions 04472, 04473, 04477 and 04479 (2005), why does she state that information is not collected on people waiting for kidney transplants when Australian and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry reports indicate this information is collected?

Hon Annette King (Minister of Health) replied: ANZOD (Australia and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry)
does not collect information regarding people who have been removed from the transplant waiting list due to being too far advanced in disease to benefit from a transplant.
ANZOD publishes a transplant waiting list as at 31 December each year. This is a ‘snap shot’ of people on the waiting list, and does not contain ethnicity and age information.

ANZDATA (Australia and New Zealand Dialysis Transplant Registry) publishes information about people on the kidney transplant waiting list as at 31 March each year, and contains age and ethnicity information.  This is a ‘snap shot’ of people on the waiting list, as the waiting list is continually changing.

New Zealand transplant co-ordinators supply information to the ANZOD and ANZDATA registries twice a year to support the above publications.
